SpecialEurasia concluded an official mission to Armenia to attend the 2nd Yerevan Dialogue held on 26–27 May 2025. The event provided an opportunity to engage with Armenian institutional figures, foreign diplomats stationed in Yerevan, and representatives from the local business sector.
The mission contributed to enhancing SpecialEurasia’s understanding of Armenia’s internal political developments and external strategic direction. Through meetings and direct exchanges, it was possible to assess policy trends and regional outlooks influencing Yerevan’s positioning in the South Caucasus.
Key Observations from the Yerevan Dialogue 2025
-
“Crossroads of Peace” Strategy. Armenia presented the “Crossroads of Peace” initiative as a strategic project aimed at fostering regional connectivity and mitigating the risks of isolation. The plan appears central to Yerevan’s current foreign policy and regional diplomacy.
-
Diversification of Defence Procurement. Ongoing procurement of military equipment from France, India, and the United States reflects a shift in Armenia’s defence partnerships. This move underscores Yerevan’s intention to reduce reliance on Russian military support.
-
Negotiation Challenges with Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan’s request for constitutional amendments in Armenia, coupled with the official narrative of “Western Azerbaijan,” complicates the peace dialogue and heightens tensions around sovereignty and national identity.
SpecialEurasia remains committed to monitoring strategic developments in Armenia and the South Caucasus. This visit reinforces our operational capacity to assess geopolitical risks and opportunities across Eurasia.
