SpecialEurasia participated in the European Robotics Forum (ERF2025), one of the leading events in the robotics sector, which brought together experts from academia, industry, and policy.
The Forum organised on March 25-27, 2025, in Stuttgart, offered the opportunity to evaluate ongoing developments in robotics and their potential implications for security, defence, and strategic industries.
During the event, SpecialEurasia engaged with representatives from the private sector, research institutions, and regulatory bodies. Discussions focused on how robotics is influencing industrial operations, logistics chains, and defence capabilities across multiple jurisdictions.
Strategic Relevance and Emerging Issues
Robotics is increasingly intersecting with core aspects of geopolitical risk assessment. Automation and AI integration into national infrastructure, defence systems, and logistics networks raise questions regarding regulatory alignment, technological dependence, and economic competitiveness. As robotics accelerates deployment in both civilian and military sectors, it becomes a subject of strategic competition.
SpecialEurasia also identified a growing demand among stakeholders for structured analysis on the geopolitical ramifications of robotics-related investments and technology transfer. This aligns with our commitment to tracking strategic technologies and assessing their influence on global and regional stability.
Observations from ERF2025 Organisational Planning
Stuttgart has been proposed as the host city for ERF2025. The city’s infrastructure and institutional ecosystem position it as a suitable candidate. The main venue, the Liederhalle, offers a central and functional location for structured discussions and informal exchanges.
The city’s proximity to key research centres—such as the Fraunhofer Institutes, Cyber Valley, the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems, and the University of Stuttgart—reinforces its suitability. Planned site visits to major industrial robotics facilities and automation firms will provide participants with direct exposure to current applications and ongoing research.
SpecialEurasia will continue to assess how developments in robotics influence geopolitical balances, regulatory frameworks, and national strategies. Participation in ERF2025 supports our long-term analytical goals and contributes to positioning the organisation at the intersection of strategic technologies and international affairs.
